 Georgia looks to approve Constitutional carry

With the pre-filing of the Georgia “Constitutional Carry” Act of 2012 (HB679) by State Representative Jason Spencer, we could be one step closer to having our freedoms restored, the bill promises to eliminate the requirement to have a Georgia Weapons Carry License to carry firearms openly or concealed, as is currently established lawful practice in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming.  The Bill will do the following:

  • Eliminate the mandatory government requirement for background checks of law-abiding Georgia gun owners;
  • Eliminate the mandatory requirement for taxes or “fees” be paid to county governments across the state;
  • Eliminate mandatory government fingerprinting requirements;
  • Eliminate mandatory trips to county probate courts in order to carry openly or concealed;
  • Eliminate mandatory county government-imposed weapons license waiting periods;
  • Leave the current Georgia Weapons Carry License in place as a voluntary license, for the sake of reciprocity; the license will no longer be mandatory to carry open or concealed in Georgia.

So please contact your state representatives and let them know that you expect them to support this bill.

Georgia legalizes the use of silencers for hunting

Senate Bill 301 allows the use of silencers in hunting season, and provides for penalties for offenders who hunt big game out of season or at night while using a silencer. This bill passed the Georgia Senate resoundingly January 31, 2012,  with a vote of 48 to 5 and is on its way to Governor Nathan Deal’s desk to be signed into law.

So keep an eye on our site as we are stocking up on suppressors and will have them ready for hunting season!!  But, keep in mind that suppressors are Title 2 items and will take some time (approx. 6 months) to get the paperwork through the ATF. We recommend you start the paperwork process early so you can be assured to have your suppressor in time for hunting season.
